If you have just experienced a breakup, left someone without a reason that makes the sky in your world collapse. The song "Skyscraper by Demi Lovato" is a must for you to listen. This song is about the method of strengthening the heart after a breakup. Motivation, and encourages oneself, so that it is not broken just because of a broken heart. The Skyscraper song also tells about the feeling of not wanting to give up from adversity. The inner struggle to stay standing above all the darkness that faced. The meaning of this song is quite indirectly representing what I've actually felt for the past few years. That's why this song is one of my favorite playlists. One of the heartbeat songs that kept me going through life.

The reason why I really want to appreciate this song is that each verse of the song has meaning that is so connected to what I felt when I broken at that time. As I will interpret each verse as follows:

[Verse 1:]
"Skies are crying, I am watching
Catching tear drops in my hands
Only silence as it's ending
Like we never had a chance
Do you have to make me feel like
There's nothing left of me?"

The first Stanza of this verse tells how the song writer abandoned by her lover, she saw the nature as if defending her, the sky pouring rain as she cried "Skies are crying". She wiped her tears, shedding the rain, vaguely, it wasn't clear where the tears were. It's just lonely and lightning fast catching up with friends. She is silent, her lover is silent. That day, her boyfriend made her feel completely excluded. As if there was no chance she could ask. Like a song writer never gets a chance to return to her lover.

[CHORUS:]
"You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I'm made of glass
Like I'm made of paper
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground like a skyscraper
Like a skyscraper"

In this two-part stanza of the chorus, the song writer begins to accept bitterly the departure of her lover who just left her. She seemed to say, her boyfriend can take whatever is hers. He may snatch the song writer's happiness, remove the heart from her body, crush it, as if the song writer is made of glass. He may squeeze a song writer, as if made of paper. Just break her heart, no matter, because she won't linger over her lover. She will survive, will rise again and grow taller, like a skyscraper, so that everyone sees how beautiful she is, and her lover, must look up to see it again.

[Verse 2:]
"As the smoke clear I awaken
And untangle you from me
Would it make you feel better
To watch me while I bleed
All my windows still are broken
But I'm standing on my feet"

Stanza 3 part verse 2 is the healing phase where the song writer begins to rise as the meaning of the following lyrics. When the fog of sadness no longer swirls in her brain, disappears, disappears, does not trace, she will welcome the sunlight, able to rise again. She will let go of her lover, like changing her skin, leaving her lover as the past, free from all dependence on him. But even though she tried to rise from adversity her heart was still hurt seen from the word "All my windows still are broken". But at least, she did not collapse, still standing above her wound.

[Bridge:]
"Go run, run, run
I'm gonna stay right here
Watch you disappear, yeah
Go run, run, run
Yeah, it's a long way down
But I'm closer to the clouds up here"

This 4-part Stanza is a phase move on for the song writer as she said to his lover "Run, go as far as possible to leave me, because I will still be here. I will watch over you, until you completely disappear from my sight. Please go the long way and winding ahead, alone, without me, I'm sure you will get lost, because you are usually with me. I'm still here, looking at you from a height, waiting for you to regret not inviting me."

The song 'Skyscrapers' actually tells about a person who attempts to stay strong and rise from her downfall or failure probably in a relationship with someone, possibly like being dumped or something like that. Skyscraper is the metaphor of it, something that is standing tall and touches the sky plus not easy to break. So, the moral value of the song is that you need to stay strong & rise from your sadness and don't let yourself be beaten by feeling unworthy just because some guy dumps you.
