China will try to seat Israel and Palestine to resume negotiations during a forum on peace in the Middle East scheduled to be held in Beijing before the end of the year, announced Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The Foreign Minister indicated that in that opportunity they will try to find a solution to the dispute over the status of Jerusalem, exacerbated after US president, Donald Trump, this week recognized that city as the Israeli capital.

He insisted that the issue should be decided through dialogue and in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Organization.

'China calls to all sides involved to refrain from causing further turbulence in the Middle East, a region that currently faces numerous challenges,' the minister pinpointed.

According to Wang, China will promote in the forum the four-point proposal planned by President Xi Jinping in order to resolve the Palestinian cause.

Such initiative first suggests the peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine, that the latter territory restores the right to self-determination and has an independent and sovereign State, with its capital in East Jerusalem and the pre-1967 borders.

It also points to the negotiations as the only way to peace, advocates for mutual understanding, the adoption of credible measures to stop the occupation of Palestinian territory and violence against innocent civilians, and the cease of the blockade against Gaza Strip.

Among other issues, he recommends the international community provide guarantees, have a greater sense of responsibility, take an objective and fair position, and make vigorous efforts to encourage talks.

China expressed concern about an increase in tensions in the Middle East after the announcement of Trump's determination on Jerusalem.

He described the issue as complicated and sensitive, urging the sides involved to act with caution and maintain regional stability.
